Below are stament given in catalog of madisound:

Hovland MusiCaps deliver exceptional dynamics, speed, focus, correct timbre and depth of field, and true inter-transient silence.

Consistent even winding tension assures freedom from microphonics
A single capacitor = a singular sound; no time smear from multiple sections
Blue striped lead to indicate lead connected to foil inner edge. (In a series connection the blue lead should be closer to the speaker; in parallel the blue lead should be closer to ground.)
Manufactured entirely in U.S.A.
*Coupling Caps, designed for use in electronics, but suitable for speakers. (Red lead should be closer to speaker in series connection.)

Below are reply from Hovland:

Dear Mr. Wong:

No, your statement is backwards.  Red is output side.
On all models of Hovland MusiCaps, the red lead is the inner foil's edge and should be connected as the output side of the cap, towards the the next stage in the circuit (or towards the speaker drive if used in a crossover).  If the output side of circuit is not obvious (or if used in parallel, say in a crossover or as a power supply bypass), then connect the red lead to the lower potential side.

The capacitors will of course work fine in either direction, but we think you will find that our suggestions will yield a more natural, less fatiguing presentation--though not quite as initially "exciting"
as going the other way.

Thank you for choosing Hovland MusiCaps.  We hope you find that they enable greater connection to and enjoyment of music.

Sincerely,

Alex J. Crespi
