Ack,
Try to ans your question.
1. Depends on the "Quality" of the SMPS and Linear PS
2. For any of the Class D, FF, VF, SODA, they are taken the current from the power supply cycle by cycle. E.g. if the Class D OSC freq. is 380KHz, that mean the power supply should supply the V/I 380K times / sec. If the power supply is not fast enough to "recover", it will look like 氣喘 and 腳軟
3. For using SMPS, it have fast response (typically is 67-100KHz) oscillation. including the output capacitor, it will enough the amplifier to draw the current rapidly. Some people may be increase the value on the output capacitor, it is too dangerous to do this, some of the SMPS controller / circuit may be not able to drive "capacitive load" during startup even they have "soft start" or not.
4. For the Linear power supply, the output cap. is as large as value as possible, but if you want to get the better sound (more transpency), give a hint to you, you need to 打散 the capacitor value. i.e. the charging and discharging time of 100pcs 100uF is much much faster than ONE piece of 10000uF. The output impedance is much much lower than using a single one.
We will have a detail and FAIR comparision of this TWO topology soon.
