opa 627bp in MHZS cd33

ha..becareful while clean the laser lens, don't like me spoil it.... if after cleaning still not ok. then change back to opa 2604 still not ok... then maybe your CD pickup had show aging. Last time u said ur cdp can't read all CD right? did u replace a new 1 last time?

I think china made cdp use the loudsy sony kss-213, if your luck good it may last 1-2yrs, if bad luck 3month can see some sign/symptom....

lucky Jln pasar is selling the cd pickup mechanism (include motor) at RM22, 1 year change 1 time also no problem.....

I think the control IC may have problem or the leaser head dirty.

i actually follow the superwhite grouding connection and we are using the same pcb board, the only difference is he using bb627 and mine is ad797.

can you show which point is connect the grounding with PCB broad.
I have try AD797 but no any problem occurred same to you. I thick just grounding problem.

i had changed the the ad797 op-amp when i first push the power button, the cdp was not responding, so i tried turn it off and on again the result is the cdp turn off automatically after count down to 11sec. the third time is until 4sec and following time is it turn off after count down and "no disk" showing. finally, it can be turn on and play cd and it seem like normal.

the ad797 sound is totally diferent from bb2604, it's really ultra low distortion i can said, bass is not as powerful as bb2604, vocal is much more natural, high frequency positioning is more accurate and clear. i can feel like playing LP with this ad797, it's can let you have less digital feel.
but i guess bb627 sound can give me more satisfication rather then ad797.
since i haven't try bb627 in my cdp so i still can give any advice here.

the cd-rom tray ejected but no display from the lcd after i pushed the power button when i check the cdp this morning. second time it's worked.
so i will change back to bb2604 and see is this problem cause by the ad797.

i have ordered the ad797 op-amp it's expected to collect it next monday.
hope that can reduce the noise and give better clarity after i replace the old 2604. the cost of changing is RM 136.00 it is almost RM100.00 cheaper then BB627.

as follow:
white colour (square area) for power supply for clock (9v)
green colour input signal
yellow colour  grouning.

my old version is with duorex, so i guess duorex II is the ancestor of silmic II.

Ya, u can do bi-amp, 8000A drive HF & 8000P drive LF, then u won't waste the 60W of 8000A than if u use it for pre only.

whether Jensen gold is better than original Elna black negative? i'm not sure. Maybe other here like viewer can tell.

I can tell is that the charcteristic of most jensen is sweet sound and my 8000A almost 15yrs old, no matter how the big cap is going to die soon as i can feel the degrade of it's performance... my friend will help me buy from william. the price is ~HK210/pcs u can check the price in hififever.

Most probably i will receive the big cap during CNY, then i will able to tell u the performance. After CNY he will go HK again then back in May.
Since u no hurry on modify audiolab, i suggest let me test & see the result in CNY then only u decide whether to buy or not.

Another info, spend the same money on mod audiolab seems have better result than cdp.

for audiolab, u just need to replace the 3 cap (100uF/35v) near power supply already can see a lot improvement. Imagine ur 8000A is ~10yrs old, estimate it been use 3hr/day, 10yrs-->10,000hr so most ecap nearly die....


hey, if u change opamp can sell the old 2604 to me? as i'm not going to change to 637 or any upgrade... if i will do any upgrade in future i will try to bypass opa.

since my friend mr. superwhite already install bb627 into his cdp, i planned to try the ad797 for something diffenrence because with my audiolab 8000p 100watt per channel + rogers ls7t the low frequency was very good already. but i still haven't check is this op-amp can be found in malaysia or not, hope that mr. windwss can help me to find out  please.
i have an idea to use my audiolab 8000a to drive the HF and audiolab 8000p to drive the LF i had this advice from a hifi chop sifu he said that this arrangement will provide better detail and live field, please advice.
i don't plan to mod. my 8000a until i finished the cdp mod. i still have a few path in cdp need to be mod.

i had comfirmed my audiolab 8000a is MK2 it come with the white ribbon and the volume control also better then ver 1, it is square type. you mentioned that your friiend will help you to bring back the jensen 63v 10000uf ecap from HK, can i know the cost for this ecap and do you believe this is better then the original one. if so can u pls help me to buy also. my 8000a is using 2 units meanwhile the 8000p is using 4 units.

You can try Analog device AD797 AH(Metal package) its sound compared with BB 627 AM (Metal package) is 人聲及中頻會好一些(有味道)但低頻都是 BB627AM好一些(低頻变及質感) up to your tasts.
I have used both in my MHZS CD33. finally I chosed BB 627 AM.
because CD 33 is tube cdp so is very match BB627AM's sound.

Is your audiolab mk2 similar as photo attached? s/n: start with 2, then got a flat cable.
since u got 8000p u can do another trick ---> separate your 8000A to pre & power by removing 2 resistor so that the pre & power inside your 8000A will not connect internally. (I got info on this call or email me for more info).

then change the ecap in pream side ~8-10caps only (all to BG) cost ~rm150. u will see a lot different a lot detail. twisted the cable of the output to RCA and twisted the inner powre cable. Since u have 8000P so no need change BG cap in 8000A's power amp side (~4caps)

if still not satisfy and wish the audiolab vocal slightly warmer then u may change the EVOX mmk polyester cap (tatal ~40caps) in pre amp &power am side to other better cap. (i will do this soon but i'm only low cost high gain so will only change the evox to ROE mkt for better detail & natural sound.... if u want better then may look for some tin foil or cu/oil but will cost u a bomb. my audiolab got ~8pcs 0.47uf, 6pcs 0.33uF evox cap...

Now my hifi set totally changed to cd33, audiolab 8000A for pre, audiolab 8000P for power, QED 25th silver anyversary speaker cable then Rogers LS7t. any idea of the sound quality of Vishay sprague 735P (metallized polyproprene cap)? is the cahracteristic similar to roe mkp? since in malysia roe mkp only very limited choice of uF. Only mkt 1813 have more choice.

If 735P is better than mkt 1813 then i will use 735P. Since polypropene is usually lower dissipation factor than polyester(mkt).

have u compare teh balckgate nx-hi-q small cap to teh mkp or mkt or solen cap? how's teh result?

e.g 0.47uf/50v BG hi-Q have small size, it is easier to get than other 0.47uF/100v mkp/film/foil. Can a BG hi-Q ecap sound better than mkt/mkp/film&foil??

1) In Hk,  don't ask where is cheap of Black gate e-cap, I only buy it from two places only: there are the dealer of black gate cap.

2. Jensen e-cap only one model just e-cap.  The sound of  Jensen e-cap is sweet than black gate. but black gate's bass is better than jensen, up to you. Price of black gate standard is cheap than jenaen.

3. I suggect use ERO MKP cap, its sound will be better that evox mmk.

You sd LCR is it should be SCR.
I think it can not be better than MKP1845 in my experience.

had replace the wima mkp-10 with roe mkp 1845, the improvement is good... more detail but not harsh, more comfortable sound...so as viewer said it is really a low price high gain cap.... suitable for people we like acceptable improvement with low budget.

after i done a major mod. of my cdp, the vocal is beter now. and i found that fc cap really can not be used at all, the new eca is much more bater then that.
