Yamaha 1600,2600 is good choice!

For movie mainly:

For me I may think first, do you need to watch movie at night with silent or headphone always, if need....then Pioneer, Marantz, Yamaha for sure. Not many have silent cinema functions.

Pioneer AX?i series, the sound adjust system good and chips 44 bit, power enough for music.

Marantz...good for stereo , musical, surround system normal.

Yamaha---really good for movie only in mid class. the surround system and data base is the top, you can match your taste in different choice for MTV or old pro logic movie or stereo MTV. BUT really weak power you feel when you compare with Pioneer or Denon..in mid class.

the surround system also not only the data base and many choice, main is how good of the components, power supply, chips, one chip for decode or many chips for decode...like our computer...

Many brand's top model are totally good enough for the surround effect because they use the top component....

Focus on the budget and find what you need, hope you can find your taste.

in mid class, Yamaha---really good for movie only , this's only my personal taste, may be 2600 is better ...I don't know, let William share of it.
My past expereince of owned old top model...3090...A1, not enough power for me...but really love the surround system, I always want to turn back to Yamaha.....

Z9 is totally different, Must powerful but expensive. In mid class, does powerful and musical for 2600? I also want to know, thanks.
