KK Ho, you are rich to use this expensive and intelligent mobile phone. It is just of my viewpoint for your reference:

1) As per website of Sonyericsson, the maximum capacity of memory stick Micro™ (M2) is 4G for Sonyericsson P1i.

2) As per website of Sony, supplier of M2, it only supplies M2 up to 4G only.

In fact, the compatibility Scandisk 8G M2 depends on the configuration (current version) of firmware used in mobile phone P1i. Firmware is the software which serves as the operating system (OS) used in mobile phone. It acts an interface between input hardware (e.g. keypad) and control unit to the storage hardware (e.g. memory stick)

In conclusion, it is just a guess if you take the risk to use. I guess that the Scandisk 8G M2 is compatible with Sony M2 format and can be used in mobile phone P1i. But, there are two possible outcomes:

1) It is fully compatible if the Scandisk 8G M2 can be used up to all 8G storage.
2) It is partially compatible if Scandisk 8G M2 can be used up to 4G storage only. In order maximize the use of 8G, it needs to wait for an upgraded version of firmware later.

If end up that it is incompatible (i.e. cannot be used), don't call me to pay back!

Dear KK Sir,

I have similar experience with the 2G SD card (when it was first introduced) to use with the Nokia 3250 or so.

The Phone says it WILL support 2G. Unfortunately there wasn't 2G SD available when I bought the phone. When the 2G SD is available, can't wait to get one, plug it in ... @#$%^&*.... the whole phone messed up.

Luckily, still got 2 days before warranty expires ... rush down to Nokia. They said they will update the firmware for me. Waited for 2 hours. Wa la ... everything done and the phone works fine until now.

I like the P1i too. My wife just bought one today.... only 2 left at the store (Hong Goods).
