Been thinking of re-wiring my Marantz 7 for some time. Just too busy these days. Never satisfied with the grounding I have with this M7. I have tried different grounding methods but still the "dee dee" noise is audible.
Dis-assembled the whole thing and re-struct all the wirings again. This time, I adopt a method suggested by Mr. Tong from a renowned Hi Fi shop.
The result -- very satisfying. The noise is greatly reduced. Even at 12:xx mid night, the noise in not really audible. Will have to try it out more tonight.
No problem at all. I hope I didn't "mis-interpret" his ideas.
Check the following diagram.
I just arrived home and can't wait to turn on my Hi Fi. As it is still 6:xxpm, there are some noise in the surrounding environment. Yet, I have to stick my ears very close to the woofer before I can hear any noise from my system.
I managed to get home at around 11pm last night and tried my system again.
This method suggested by Master Tong is really good. I am not qualified to say this is the BEST but out of all the trials I have, this one gives the minimum amount of noise.
If I sit 2 feet from my speakers, I will really doubt whether I turn the system on or not. If I keep my ear 8" from the woofer, I still can't hear anything. I have to put my ear almost next to the foam skirt of the woofer before I can hear the usual noise.
In the past, I can hear the noise around 6" from the woofer.
